Hello Stella! Tell us a bit about yourself… what do you do at Thought?

Hi! I’m part of the Business Support team at Thought – we do all of the day to day admin, whilst also helping the customers. You might hear from me if you ever call our HQ or email us about an order.

So where are you based? Tell us a bit about your favourite places in your neighbourhood?

I just recently moved to Homerton in East London. There's an amazing little cafe just around the corner from the new place that I visit every weekend with my partner. It does the most incredible home-made hummus, and delicious, freshly baked bread. One of my favourite things is just to sit at an outdoor table and watch the locals walking by and chatting to each other. There's a real feeling of community and friendliness which can be hard to find in London.

What or who inspires you the most? Why?

One of my closest friends from school is training to become a women's sexual and reproductive health doctor - her journey to educate and encourage women about their mental and physical health is truly empowering, and she teaches me something new every day. Not only that, but she's my personal style icon - and I actually made my very first pair of woollen earrings with her in mind!

Yes, we love that you hand-craft your own earrings! How did this hobby begin?

I have always had a passion for homemade jewellery - when I was younger I used to scour charity shops and vintage stalls for old 1950’s pendants and plastic charms to upcycle into earrings and necklaces. Recently I’ve been really inspired by the queen of crochet and wool, Katie Jones, who designs and makes incredible clothing and accessories. Working with wool is so easy, and it has such a textured and unrefined aesthetic - perfect for someone still honing their skills!

How would you describe the style of the earrings you make? Do you have a favourite pair?

They're fun and bold! My favourite pair for now are the large circular pair in electric pink. My personal earring philosophy is that they can never be too big or too bright – and I think these ones certainly exemplify that.

So do you take this approach in other aspects of fashion too? Talk me through your personal style. What’s your typical outfit for a working day (especially in this heat wave)?

I have a thing for vintage clothes and I’m always drawn to vibrant colours. I love a floral print or a good stripe or spot. I also love a pattern clash or a contrasting colour combo. A typical outfit for me would be a pair of high-waisted culottes, and a light, floaty top. In this heat, the wider and floatier the better!

What’s your favourite piece from our new pre-Autumn collection? Why do you love it? How would you style it?

I love the Ditsy Ikat Culottes from the Cultural Odyssey part of our pre-Autumn collection – they're such a perfect fit, and can be easily dressed up or down. I wear them with an oversized white shirt, silver sandals and a pair of my brightly coloured earrings. The culottes are understated but not plain, and they work perfectly with some slightly jazzier accessories.

And finally, what’s your favourite thing about working for Thought?

A big part of my role is customer service, and it's definitely my favourite part.
