Interior design, Provence and Jazzercise are just some of Jane of White Hart Studio's favourite things. Last week, we had a chat with Jane to discover more about her, and to learn all about how White Hart Studio in Haddenham began.
Stockist Stories: White Hart Studio, Haddenham
Hi Jane, let’s start by chatting about your shop, White Hart Studio. Could you tell us a bit about it? How did you come up with the name?
White Hart Studio is a Lifestyle shop selling jewellery, women’s fashion, gifts, greetings cards and interiors. The name of the shop came from our house next door, which was originally a pub named ‘White Hart Inn’ that closed in the First World War.
How did the idea start?
We bought the house and acquired these dilapidated buildings next door, I put a few pieces of painted furniture in the shop window for sale and got a lot of interest. At the time things were tough as we sadly lost our baby in 2000 and were desperately trying for another. My friend suggested I open a small gift shop. I then opened White Hart Studio in October 2003 and that Christmas I fell pregnant with Benedict who is now 12 years of age.
What about your town, Haddenham?
Haddenham is a small, picturesque village in Buckinghamshire, voted the 5
th best place to live in England! This is also the village where quite a few episodes of mid-summer murders are filmed. I am lucky I live in the heart of the country side so there are many beautiful places. The duck pond is one of my favourites.
Let’s move on to Thought – do you have any favourite pieces from our new collection?
My favourite garments from Thought are the
Palm Baja Hemp Culottes and
Top and the
Lotus Organic Cotton Top which I wore when I was in Provence.
And now a bit about you. What’s life outside White Hart Studio like?
I’m very interested in interior design and have been restoring our barn and house for the last two years. I’m now on the final stages of this project which is very exciting.
Where was the last place you travelled?
I have just recently returned from Provence, France.
What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was The Muse-Jessie Burton.
And what’s your biggest passion?
My biggest passion or love is my children, husband, then fashion.
Finally, let’s talk about living thoughtfully. How would you say you embrace thoughtful living?
To live thoughtfully I do my best to think of others and help where ever possible, I find this very fulfilling.
What do you do to unwind? Do you have any tips for our readers?
This is a difficult one for me as I like to be busy, I’ve recently started Jazzercise as I find exercise helps clear your mind.
Our mantra is ‘Wear me, love me, mend me, pass me on’. Do you have a mantra?
I’d say my mantra is ‘be positive, love life and embrace every day’.
Thank you Jane!
