At Home With Tahira Herold

We recently sat down for a coffee and chat with Tahira Herold, an eco-conscious makeup artist with a passion for transitioning towards a sustainable beauty industry. Tahira’s blog, Beauty by Tahira is a fabulous platform for exploring eco-conscious beauty and lifestyle options.

She reviews everything from ethical, reef-safe sunscreens to natural haircare. Tahira is the co-founder of Conscious Beauty Union, an initiative pioneering sustainability in the beauty industry with the mission of supporting beauty professionals to develop a sustainable practice, We spent five minutes catching up with Tahira to find out the perks of her job, her top tips for sustainable living and her beauty favourites.

What is your favourite thing about working as a make-up artist?

I love making people feel amazing!

What does a typical day look like for you?

There is no such thing as a typical day, and that is also what I love about my job. Everyday is different. Different locations, colleagues, clients and looks, it always changes!

What are you doing to live more sustainably?

Lots of little things. I try not to purchase or acquire too much, so I consider all things I consume. I try to offset my carbon emissions through recycling properly, turning the lights off, buying loose fruit and veg. These are all little decisions I make to hopefully offset the fact that I have to drive a lot.

What’s your favourite piece that you wore on the shoot?

The Abigail Chambray Midi Dress. As sweet looking as it is, I feel badass wearing it and I love that it can be dressed up or down.

Which sustainable make up brands would you recommend?

Oh don’t get me started! I have a whole blog for that. A few of my favourites include Kjaer Weis, Ilia, Benecos and Ere Perez.
