Make it: DIY Rose Petal Lip Balm

I love autumn and taking long woodland walks. However, I find I need lots of lip balm to make it through the cold weather months. If that sounds like you too, try this DIY rose petal lip balm recipe as an all-natural alternative that works wonders for chapped lips. It has a sweet taste of vanilla with just a hint of rose. And because it’s made with 100% natural ingredients, this recipe is super moisturising, edible and free of any chemicals. You could even give this lip balm as gift - you’ll find this recipe makes enough for you and a few friends. Oh, and it only takes a few minutes to make. DIY Rose Petal Lip Balm

You Will Need To make four small lip balms • 1 tsp beeswax (grated or cut into pieces) • 1 tsp shea butter • 1 tsp cocoa butter • 1 and 1/2 tsp almond oil • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract • A handful of dried rose petals • Small heatproof bowl • Small saucepan • 4 small sealable containers (10–15ml) DIY Rose Petal Lip Balm How To 1. Measure and add the beeswax, shea butter and cocoa butter in a small heatproof bowl and place it over a small saucepan filled halfway with water. Bring the water to a simmer to melt the mixture. 2. Remove the melted mixture from heat and add the dried rose petals, which will steep them, releasing the natural oil and scent of the petals. 3. Strain the rose petals if you wish. (I left them in as I think they look quite pretty). DIY Rose Petal Lip Balm 4. Add the almond oil and vanilla extract, giving the mixture a final stir. 5. Carefully pour the warm mixture into small containers. (I found these small 10ml pots in my local craft shop.) 6. Leave to cool for a couple of hours and then your rose petal lip balm is ready to use. Store for up to six months.
