Meet the Team - Tara, Photographer
As a small business we thought it would be great for you, our community, to get to know some of the team here at Thought.
Meet Tara, Thought’s long-standing photographer who has been working with us since the early 2000’s. She lives in Devon with her husband and three children.
What's the best part of your job?
The creativity and the people! I love getting stuck into a project - working with lovely people on creative projects. I'm very hands-on, so I get involved in styling the sets and composing outfits.

How did you get into photography?
After a stint in modelling and acting, I went on to study broadcast at Westminster Uni. I worked in TV for a few years then, when my children came along, I moved over to brand imagery.
What’s one way you are living more thoughtfully?
Since the start of lockdown we have created quite a substantial vegetable garden! We plan to grow a lot of the veg we eat.
What are you missing the most during these times?
I miss my trips to London work! It's always a great opportunity to catch up with friends and get busy on new and exciting projects.
What’s keeping you grounded and positive?
The main thing that has kept me sane has been being able to walk down to the beach. This has been great for my whole family! The kids collect shells and play at the rock pools or we all do coastal walks to near-by bays. The warm & sunny weather has also been a blessing for us and everyone we know in lockdown.

Have you started trying your hand at anything new?
We ordered a croquet set at the start of lockdown and have played it everyday since! Homeschooling has been a whole new challenge - at first disastrous, but now we have a routine and it's ok (sometimes even a joy!)

What have you been cooking?
I've been cooking SO MUCH! I'm a very good cook but can't bake a decent cake to save my life! I've been making rhubarb crumble a lot because we have it in the garden - a top tip for the crumble; add ground almonds, desiccated coconut and crushed pecans.

Who, or what is inspiring you right now?
I'm inspired by people getting creative - recreating artworks with things they find in the house, writing songs, getting busy in the garden and generally the whole shift from what we collectively thought was important before, to what we think is important now.
Given the current climate, how do you think we can all live more thoughtfully right now?
I'm filled with joy at how much nature has been able to flourish because we've all slowed down and stayed at home. I hope this is enough for us all to see how much we can do to regenerate nature and also the effects we have on it - being that quite a bit of it has recovered in very little time.
What’s your favourite piece from our SS20 Collection?
Maddalena Organic Cotton Maxi Dress because I can wear it with trainers to go to the farm shop or put on my beloved 20 year old platforms to feel ready for a party! I also love the colour.
